Down On The Farm

Today, Madison & I went to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead in Overland Park, Kansas. This was supposed to be a MOPS outing, but only 2 other moms said that they could make it (I didn't see either one while I was there. We still had fun, just the two of us. I think Maddie liked this more than the zoo. Not only did she know more of the animals, she could actually touch them. I tried getting her to bottle feed the baby goats, but she didn't really want anything to do with it. One of her favorite parts was the one-room school house. Here she could sit at the desks, write on the little chalkboards, and read books (her favorite thing to do). Mommy liked it because it was air-conditioned. :) We only stayed for about an hour or so, because it was quite hot out. The place isn't that big and saw almost everything.

Vacation Time

Just 4 more hours unitl I'm on vacation. I don't think I've ever taken a full week (M-F) off work before. Ok, so one of the days is a holiday, a "free" vacation day. My parents are driving down on Sunday and we will all be going to the Lake of the Ozarks for 2 nights. We will be back on Wednesday because Bryan has to work all weekend and my folks want to get back to be with Grandpa. But there's no sense to go to work for just one day, so I'm taking it off. Add in the weekends and I don't have to go to work for 10 DAYS!

Microwave Madness

You may recall a couple months ago when I wrote how our microwave broke. Well, we ordered a replacement because the part we needed to fix it was on backorder until the end of May. Well, just before Memorial Day Weekend, we received our replacement. The box was pretty banged up on one corner. When we took it out of the box, the back corner (which hangs on the bracket) was crushed. We reported this to the company and they agreed to send us another replacement. This latest replacement arrived last weekend. We took it out of the box, hung it up, and took all the protective plastic off. Guess what. The door will not latch properly to stay closed. I called again. This time, they're going to send a repairman out who will look into fixing the door. Hopefully this time some good will come out of it. The good thing is that the microwave is still under warranty, so we haven't had to pay for anything - not even shipping costs. It's just been REALLY frustrating.

Having A Heat Wave

A tropical heat wave. Temps are supposed to rise to near triple digits for the next few days. Thank God for air conditioning & for indoor jobs. Though, I'm always freezing at work and wear a jacket or sweater.

A Day At The Zoo

Today we went to the Kansas City Zoo with Grandma & Grandpa Helman. This is Maddie's first time seeing "wild" animals for real & up close. She wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but I still think she enjoyed it. She seemed to like the lions & hippos the best. She also liked petting the sheep. Here are some pictures & videos for your enjoyment.
