A God Story

At the beginning of the year, our church's youth group threw a dart at a map of the United States to determine where they would go for their summer mission trip. The dart landed on Murfeesburo, TN. Of course, at the time, they had no idea what kind of mission work they would be doing. Well, Murfeesburo lies outside of Nashville, and unless you've been living under a rock for the past month, you would know that the area has been ravaged by flood waters. So now they get to aid in the clean up and recovery.

Waterlogged

"Rain, rain, go away. We want to go out and play"

I've about had it with all this rain. It's rained nearly every day for the past 11 days. We've had over 5 inches of rain just this month. Instead of that "fresh" smell that typically comes with a sping or summer rain shower, there's now a damp musty smell in the air.

Good news: There's no rain in the forcast for Saturday's Heart Walk

Bad news: It's going to be HOT and the rain returns next week.

Why?

Maddie has definitely entered the inquisitive stage of her development.

Maddie: "What are you doing, Mama?"
Me: "I'm cleaning the kitchen."
Maddie: "Why?"
Me: "Because I made a mess."
Maddie: "Why?"
Me: "Because that's what happens when I make dinner."
Maddie: "Why?"
Me: "Because big people clean up their messes."
Maddie: "Why?"

And so on, and so on...

She also asks several "Where does (fill in the blank) come from?" type of questions. She's yet to fill the blank with the word "babies", but I'm sure it will come soon. For now, it's just things like toys, flowers, and the color blue (you try answering that one).

Bryan's First Day

Today is Bryan's first day at AWG. It's almost a little surreal. Not just because it's been 18 months since he was first laid off, but it's been 2 weeks since he was actually hired. He looked all spiffy this morning all dressed up in his business casual attire. I can't wait to hear how his day went.

In other news...our lawnmower kicked the bucket a few weeks ago. So we broke down and bought one of those new zero-turn mowers. Yesterday was the first day we used it. The grass was about a foot tall is some areas (because we haven't mowed in about a month). It had no problems. The best part is the speed. What used to take over 8 hours can now be accomplished in just over 3.
