March Madness

Over the past few years, I’ve been really getting into the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Perhaps I attribute it to Bryan and his Kansas Jayhawks. Or maybe it’s the “friendly” rivalry in our office between KU, Kansas State, & Missouri. But ultimately, I think, it’s the excitement of seeing some great games between teams which I typically wouldn’t care about. All the upsets and “Cinderella” teams are what make this Tournament one of the greatest sporting events. Our office really gets into it. Not only do we have the usual bracket pool like everyone else, but we also hold a bracket “lottery”. That is, for $1 you pull one men’s and one women’s team out of a hat, and if they make it to the Final Four, you win a portion of the pot. You get half of it if they win it all. The more draws you buy, the better chance you have of pulling a top seed. I filled out a bracket, but I didn’t submit it. It’s a good thing, too, because I’m already in bad shape. But on the plus side, I LOVE seeing an underdog upset the big boys (and KU to win it all!)

FYI…My lottery pulls:

Men – Xavier (6), Clemson (7), & Georgia Tech (10)

Women – Texas A&M (2), Georgia (5), & Georgia Tech (6)

Let the games begin!

**UPDATE**

Three games in and already 3 exciting games - one upset and two overtime nailbiters.

I agree, it's fun and keeps me occupied until baseball season begins. I'm in two pools and doing pretty good. Sorry to say Bryan's mother-in-law didn't pick the Jayhawks, I'm to loyal to the Big Ten.

Gotta tell ya, also loyal to the Big Ten. And as an Iowa girl, I couldn't be more thrilled with the game yesterday. And if you're looking for upsets and a good game, you definitely got that yesterday! Sorry for you if Bryan is upset, though. That's probably not too fun.

Oh yeah - and I picked Villanova to win it all. Why? No clue. But they're out in the second round, too. Good thing Adam and I are just playing for an afternoon to ourselves and no money was invested!
