Good Times

Aunt Marlene came for a last minute visit on Wednesday because Illinois State (where she worked after leaving KU) was playing Kansas in the final four of the Women's NIT tournament (in Lawrence). KU won, and from what I hear, it was a really good game. On Friday, we had everyone over for dinner - Bryan made a delicious roast beef. After dinner we were all sitting around the living room. Bryan wanted to put on a movie, but I suggested that we just sit around and talk. Marlene talked about how she has been researching her family's geneology. We learned that part of their family can be traced back to 15th century French royalty! We also played catch with Madison, but ended up throwing the stuffed football at each other instead. Everyone was laughing - this was way better than watching a movie I've already seen 100 times. On Saturday, we all went out to Lawrence for the championship game of the WNIT of KU against South Florida. There was a record crowd (for a women's game) of 16,000 people - 4,000 shy of a sellout. At first, they tried to make us buy a ticket for Madison, but we just went in a different door where the guy handed us an extra pass. The game was quite an experience (apparently close to men's game atmosphere, but not quite - according to Bryan). KU put up a good fight, but gave up too many points in the first half to lose by 4 points. Saturday night, Bryan & I, Bryan's mom & Aunt Marlene went to the Kansas City Symphony. The music was very nice. They featured Beethoven's "Pastoral" (6th) Symphony. However, the theater was very HOT. There was little to no air circulation up in the balcony where we were sitting. So that made it very difficult to truly enjoy the concert. Sunday was a very cold, rainy, & windy day. So after church, we just relaxed around the house.

I like it when the TV screen is not the center of attention.
